What started as a random TikTok joke is now turning into one of the strangest viral trends in America.
Thousands of teenagers are attempting something called the “Scientology Speedrun” — running inside Scientology buildings and trying to get as far as possible before security stops them.
The trend first exploded in Los Angeles after a video gained more than 90 million views online. Since then, similar incidents have appeared in New York, Houston, London, Australia and other cities. Some groups even showed up wearing costumes and masks while filming everything for TikTok.
Police have already responded to multiple gatherings after crowds became too large and chaotic. In some places, teenagers were arrested after trying to force entry or causing damage outside the buildings.
Many videos are now being removed from TikTok and Instagram, but the trend keeps spreading fast across social media.
Some people think it’s hilarious.
Others say it has gone too far.
