When Donald Trump revealed that he would be attending an NBA Finals game at Madison Square Garden, there was a lot of excitement. Some of that was from MAGA supporters who were eager to see Trump outside of the White House. But mostly, people were eager to see what the president would do, or say, and how he would react to the public’s reaction to him.

Now, several moments from the game have gone viral on X, because there are few Trump moments as a president that exist where social media wasn’t there to discuss them. From Trump eating various greasy foods in his box at the Madison Square Garden game to getting booed, people can’t stop talking about Trump’s appearance.

According to the BBC, Trump was the first sitting president to attend an NBA Finals game. Apparently, between organizing a UFC fight on the White House lawn and berating reporters, he has time to travel for a basketball game. Maybe that’s why he was met with some boos. Trump might have selective hearing when it comes to getting booed at the game between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs, but the boos were definitely there.

In one clip on X, during the “Star-Spangled Banner,” as the camera moves to Trump, there are boos heard from the crowds. Even Trump’s granddaughter Kai Trump looks tense before more cheers erupt and she smiles with what looks like satisfaction. In the comments under the X post, someone wrote, “They booed him tremendously. The best booing. They said, with tears in their eyes, they said ‘sir, we hate you, boo you sir, we hate you more than anything sir.’”

Another wrote, “He always makes that stupid face when he gets booed and embarrassed. It’s the same face he had years ago at the correspondents’ dinner when Obama roasted him.”

Afterward, when a reporter asked Trump about how he felt about his reaction, he mentioned the moment when the camera panned to him and played it off like he had been cheered for by other attendees and nothing more.

He told a reporter, “I thought it was very good. It was certainly amazing. I think mostly cheers. It was loud. And it was very enthusiastic.” I don’t think that’s quite the takeaway that some are getting, but sure, whatever you need to tell yourself.

No one wants to see him chew with his mouth wide open.

There are also moments from the game where Trump was caught snacking or eating pizza and chewing with his mouth wide open while talking. Would we expect anything less (or more, for that matter)? Probably not. But the clips of those eating moments on X drew lots of discussions about Trump, from defenders saying he eats like anyone else, to critics pointing out how he tosses his garbage to the floor without a care for who cleans it up.

“People who don’t close their mouth or talk when they eat are f–king gross,” one user wrote on X.

Another person called Trump a “classless pig,” so there’s that.

“Such a pig eating with his mouth hanging open and talking with food in his mouth,” someone else added. “He is a disgusting human being.”

Donald Trump fell asleep yet again at the game at Madison Square Garden.

You can’t have Trump seen in public these days without watching him doze off for at least a few seconds at a time. He was seemingly caught doing that at one point during the Knicks game. Maybe he got bored because his team ended up losing, but in the clip on X, he seems to doze off while sitting in his private box to watch the game.

“Bringing half your cabinet courtside just to take a historic nap is wild,” a user wrote on X. “He didn’t come to watch the Knicks’ he just paid thousands for a premium snooze. Is this the NBA Finals or a low-key ASMR stream for the executive branch?”

Another person joked, “Secret Service now investigating who turned the NBA Finals into a bedtime story.”
