Tommaso Cioni Questioned by Authorities

The search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie remains active as investigators

continue examining the circumstances surrounding her disappearance from her

Tucson home on January 31, 2026. Authorities recently confirmed that her son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, voluntarily participated in an extended interview but was not arrested or charged.

Nancy was last seen after dinner with her daughter and Cioni, who told investigators he drove her home and watched her enter safely.

Concern grew when she failed to attend church the next morning and could not be reached.

Deputies found evidence suggesting possible foul play, including signs of a struggle near the entrance, a disconnected security camera, and blood on the porch later confirmed to be Nancy’s.

Data from her pacemaker also showed an unexplained disruption shortly after 2:00 a.m., narrowing the timeline of the incident.

Authorities say interviews with family members are routine and should not be viewed as evidence of wrongdoing.

The case was further complicated by fake ransom demands, leading to the arrest of a man accused of exploiting the family’s situation.

Search teams, assisted by the FBI, continue using drones, K-9 units, and forensic analysis. A $50,000 reward remains available for information leading to Nancy’s recovery or the arrest of those responsible.
