Jennifer Aniston has had an impeccable career, but the Friends staple passed on one major gig: the chance appear on Saturday Night Live. Aniston reflected on the moment in a recent interview on Dax Shepard\u2019s Armchair Expert podcast, and says the moment haunts her but its not something she necessarily regrets.<\/p>\n
She recalled declining an offer to join Lorne Michaels\u2019 NBC sketch comedy series in the early 1990s and says she declined because she was too self-righteousness. \u201cI always thought I was such hot s\u2014,\u201d Aniston said, adding, \u201cThe story of that is all very confusing.\u201d <\/p>\n

Aniston met with Michaels in New York when her longtime friend and collaborator Adam Sandler was already a cast member on the show. \u201cI don\u2019t know why I had this self-righteous attitude of \u2018I don\u2019t know if women are treated the way they should be treated on this show,\u2019\u201d Aniston remembered. She said, at the time she was approached, SNL was \u201ca very male-dominated\u201d show. \u201cI would love to be here if it was in the Gilda Radner day,\u201d she recalled of what she said to Michaels. \u201cI mean, this is the brain that semi-remembers things that are back that far. I can\u2019t remember, but I remember Friends then happened. And that\u2019s where I went.\u201d<\/p>\n
This isn\u2019t her first time speaking about snubbing SNL. In a 2021 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she said she\u2019d heard about the work environment and didn\u2019t think it was a good fit. \u201cI was so young and dumb and I went into Lorne\u2019s office and I was like, \u2018I hear women are not respected on this show.\u2019 I don\u2019t remember exactly what I said next, but it was something like, \u2018I would prefer if it were like the days of Gilda Radner and Jane Curtin.\u2019 I mean, it was such a boys\u2019 club back then, but who the f\u2014 was I to be saying this to Lorne Michaels?!\u201d she said<\/p>\n
