House Speaker Mike Johnson took the opportunity this week to discuss significant issues affecting Americans as the country approaches the midterm elections.<\/p>\n
Johnson expressed that he is \u201cvery confident\u201d President Donald Trump will soon<\/p>\n
This will allow 60 days to get the details done, and the number-one condition has been that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon,\u201d Johnson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll take care of the nuclear dust. We\u2019ll get the Strait of Hormuz reopened, which will be great for gas prices here and stability around the world,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd that\u2019s why all the regional allies there and all the regional countries are following U.S. leadership under President Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cLet\u2019s talk politics here,\u201d interjected co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat does this mean for you and the midterms? Because I know this consumes your thoughts a lot,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah, it\u2019s a big thing,\u201d Johnson began.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously we\u2019ve done a lot of work: The Big Beautiful Bill, the working families tax cut \u2014 all of the legislation has been geared towards the cost of living, affordability, bringing the cost of living down,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe put in all those conditions in the economy to let it take off like a rocket, and we were doing that at the beginning of the first quarter, and then the Iran skirmish began,\u201d said the Speaker.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, when this settles down, gas prices come back down to earth, that means your grocery prices come down again because of transport costs and all the rest,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s going to be a big factor. The kitchen table issues are gonna decide the midterms.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cCan those things come down in time to help you out in the midterms?\u201d Campos-Duffy then asked.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, we got plenty of runway, we have better candidates, we have a fundraising advantage,\u201d Johnson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re super excited about the midterms. I\u2019m absolutely convinced that we\u2019re gonna grow the majority and get this done and make history,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
For his part, Trump posted an update about negotiations with Iran on his Truth Social platform.<\/p>\n
\u201cNegotiations with the Islamic Republic of Iran are proceeding nicely! It will only be a Great Deal for all or, no Deal at all \u2014 Back to the Battlefront and shooting, but bigger and stronger than ever before \u2014 And nobody wants that!\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n
He then added that he hoped several Mideast nations that are involved in the negotiations with Iran join the Abraham Peace Accords.<\/p>\n
\u201cThose Countries discussed are Saudi Arabia, The United Arab Emirates (already a Member!), Qatar, Pakistan, T\u00fcrkiye, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain (already a Member!),\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt may be possible that one or two have a reason for not doing so, and that will be accepted, but most should be ready, willing, and able to make this Settlement with Iran a far more Historic Event than it would, otherwise, be,\u201d said the president.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn speaking to numerous of the Great Leaders mentioned above, they would be honored, as soon as our Document is signed, to have the Islamic Republic of Iran as part of the Abraham Accords,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
\u201cWow, now that would be something special! This will be the most important Deal that any of these Great, but always in Conflict Countries, will ever sign,\u2019 Trump continued.<\/p>\n
\u201cNothing in the past, or in the future, will surpass it. Therefore, I am mandatorily requesting that all Countries immediately sign the Abraham Accords, and that, if Iran signs its Agreement with me, as President of the United States of America, it would be an Honor to have them also be part of this unparalleled World Coalition,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
